The Opening Days of Yale College

The Opening Days of Yale College mark the official welcome for incoming first‑year and new students. Beginning with move‑in on Sunday, August 23, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Opening Days span the first two weeks of the academic year and are designed to support students’ transition to life at Yale. Students will select a designated move-in time slot later this summer. Opening Days is a mandatory orientation program, and students are required to remain on campus from August 23 through September 7 and attend all required activities.

Throughout Opening Days, students will engage in a combination of required sessions and optional events that foster community, introduce campus resources, and support their academic and residential college experience. Programming for families will begin on the morning of August 23 and conclude in the afternoon of August 24.

The Opening Days Calendar  has been updated and will continue to evolve, with additional optional events hosted by campus partners added throughout May and June.

For questions, please contact first-year.affairs@yale.edu.
